Tsuruya-san Figma

Nyoro~n! Yesterday Tsuruya-san came for a permanent visit to my collection. She's a minor, but still popular character in the The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. I'm pretty sure almost everyone knows that already but there are some who might not. Well, I tried to shoot her yesterday at the nearest park but I was rushed for time so I didn't get very many pictures. Something about Halloween drawing near and the leaves turning color made me want to take the pictures outside, but I really couldn't get what I was going for. My neighborhood isn't very otaku friendly, or friendly in general really. So nothing spectacular in the way of creativity here, sorry. I might try to do something interesting for a Halloween post though.




Her hair is unique to all the other figma, because it's actually jointed in the back, allowing her (heavy I might add) hair to lift up so you can reach the hole in her back with the stand. There's also a hair piece like Konata's that can be taken out to reveal a hole for the stand to go in her hair. I actually prefer the hair one myself, because of how heavy her hair is, but it's nice to have options. I wish Konata would have been like that also. It looks like Max Factory are getting the hang of making figmas now, she's very well made. Her hands are easier to take out and put in, and since the joints in them are made of ABS as opposed to previous figma, I'm not so worried about snapping them. We'll see in time if it really does help though.





She's got two faces and 10 hands, the normal Haruhi figma hands and two V sign hands, which you see plenty of here. I especially like her fang. I do wish she played a bigger role in the anime, but I guess there's nothing to be done. I also wish they would have figmatised her in maid cosplay form instead of the same old school uniform. I love these figures but that uniform is starting to dominate my collection. Ah yes, and she comes with an even more minor character's head, Emiri Kimidori. I didn't go out and buy a second of any of the Haruhi figmas to compensate for her head either, money is a bit tight these days and I can't justify buying two of anything but limited and hard to acquire figures. So I just used Mikuru's body here.

Yuki Nagato Evil Witch Ver. Figma

I got Yuki Nagato Evil Witch Ver. Figma a couple days ago now, but I just didn't find time to write up a review until now. Just in case there's someone who doesn't know who she is, she's from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. I ordered her from my trusted favorite store, Hobby Search. Alright, now since that's out of the way it's time to talk about her.

First off, this version of Yuki comes with a load of extras. You have 14 hands in total. 2 magic wands, 1 guitar with strap, 1 cat, 2 tea cups, 1 tea pot, 1 cat, the mage hat and cloak, a sign with 4 stickers (2 different ones, with two each of them), and an extra cloak piece. Alright now to break it all down. The cloak is made of hard plastic, so it's not like the skirts and other parts of figmas that are usually flexible. The cloak also comes apart, it's in two separate pieces, as you can see in the pictures. One piece allows for somewhat of free movement of only one arm, the other covers one arm, and the third piece allows for somewhat of free movement in the other arm. I'll tell you now, the cloak is a pain in the ass. There is a hole in the back of the cloak, but the cloak snaps in two pieces, this hole is where the stand goes through and into Yuki's back. Trying to align the hole can be a problem. Trying to get her head on her after putting the cloak on can be a problem. It's just a slight annoyance though, nothing that I haven't already gotten over. It was a bit frustrating at first. Her hat doesn't really snap in place but I don't have problems with it falling off too much. It's got a groove in it sort of to help it rest in place, it's just not very secure. The guitar is cool, although it doesn't have strings on it, which some people might not like. It makes sense not to have them on it though. The magic wand is thin and looks easily breakable, which I assume is why you get an extra one. It has it's own special hand to hold the wand with. Not too much to say about the tea set and cat, aside from the cat's tail doesn't move. I like how she's in the school uniform without her cardigan on. With all the extras she's really fun, you just gotta get used to the cloak. I prefer her with it though and she looks great with my other figmas. I hope they release Haruhi in her bunny outfit to go with this one, and maybe a maid Mikuru, but I'm not so sure they'll do it with all the Haruhi figmas that they've already made. Keep your fingers crossed or whatever it is you do if you're a Haruhi fan, it's still quite possible. Anyways, overall she was a bit harder to work with than other figma, but she is so loaded with extras that she's worth it. She's especially worth getting if you're a fan of Yuki Nagato herself. I, myself, am definitely a fan. This will be the second Yuki figure I own now, along with the original (and very first ever if I'm correct) Figma.

Book not included with this version of Yuki, it came with the original. Haruhi also not included. I had originally only intended on doing a normal review but I felt like playing a little. Mikuru Asahina Figma

Alright, time to travel to a closed space about Mikuru Asahina. As most everyone knows she's from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. I pre-ordered her from ToysLogic, which is an American shop. It was a couple months ago when I put her up for pre-order I believe. She was scheduled for a much later release date in the states than in Japan. About a month and a half later at least, from ToysLogic. I had pre-ordered her, and then a few days later ordered a Keroro plush for my son from them. Well, they decided after around 3 weeks that they would wait till Mikuru was released to ship out my Keroro plush, and that they'd ship them together, and did I mention that they then charged me without asking first, for both of them together (cheaper on shipping I suppose). Anyways, I ended up getting charged for them both around the beginning of August. She was set for release on August 30th. They got her in stop quite early and notified me that she was ready to ship and billed me. A whole month later, after the release date, they mailed me and said the Keroro plush wasn't in stock and wouldn't be for quite some time, if ever (even though it was and still is listed as in-stock). They refunded my money and told me that Mikuru was again ready to ship. Well she just arrived the same day as Miku, this last Saturday. I will never buy from ToysLogic again, I wasn't the least bit happy with them, in fact I had originally ordered about 5 figma from them but then canceled and moved over to Hobby Search, who although they cost more for shipping I believe it's well worth it for the speedy delivery and top notch service they've shown me so far.





As for the figure herself, she came with 3 faces in total, worried, normal and extremely unhappy, as well as an extra pair of shoes just like the rest of the Haruhi gang, and of course the extra hands as usual. Her hair is really well made and her head moves around more than many because her hair isn't as long or crazy as many of the figmas. She could happily travel along with me some day soon that's for sure. Now one thing that I noticed after doing all this is that my particular Mikuru has a loose midsection. It's not so loose that she falls apart, but if I were to shake her from the top or bottom the other side would wobble back and forth, as if it didn't fit perfectly. It doesn't seem to be too big of a problem, yet, but I am a bit concerned about it. After her horrible imprisonment at the hands of her box and her long trip overseas and sitting in a warehouse somewhere in California for weeks, she's probably just stressed out. I wasn't really expecting too much from this figma, but I find that her faces make her very fun to mess with. One of these days when I'm bored, I'll probably do one of those Mikuru no tease things like I see on DannyChoo so often.
